Mobile payment and payment card statistics – 2nd Quarter 2024

According to statistics released today (7 August) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, in the second quarter of 2024, the number and the value of transactions of local mobile payment tools both witnessed annual growth. Meanwhile, the credit card and the debit card turnover both increased from a year ago.


Distribution work of “Wealth Partaking Scheme 2024” finished

The distribution work of “Wealth Partaking Scheme 2024” had started on 2 July and basically completed on 31 July. In the course of implementation individual permanent resident and non-permanent resident received MOP10,000 and MOP6,000 respectively. More than 580 thousand beneficiaries had received the amount of wealth partaking by means of bank transfer, accounting for about MOP5.71 billion, while 161 thousand crossed cheques had been mailed, which summed up to around MOP1.59 billion.


Interdepartmental AML/CFT Working Group Plenary Meeting

The Interdepartmental Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Working Group with its members from the Public Prosecutions Office, the Commission against Corruption of Macao, the Macao Customs Service, the Legal Affairs Bureau, the Monetary Authority of Macao, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, the Macao Economic and Technological Development Bureau, the Financial Services Bureau, the Judiciary Police, the Public Security Police Force, the Housing Bureau, the Independent Committee for the Exercise of Disciplinary Power over Solicitors, and the Financial Intelligence Office of the Unitary Police Service (the coordinating agency), held the first plenary meeting of the year on 2 August 2024. Around 60 representatives from 13 member agencies participated in the meeting, including directors, department and division heads, as well as relevant operational staff.


Local View Power 2024: Call for Proposals

In order to promote the development of cinematography and encourage Macao independent filmmakers to create more local films, the call for proposals for the programme “Local View Power”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) is open from today to 5 September. Those who are interested in film production are welcome to participate.


Students from “Music Camp” integrated in the 1st Macao International Children’s Arts Festival to perform with Joshua Bell and Academy of St Martin in the Fields in Achievement Concert

The Achievements Concert of the “Music Camp”, integrated in the 1st Macao International Children’s Arts Festival, will be held on 21 August (Wednesday), at 7:45pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Small Auditorium. Students from the “Music Camp” will perform with Joshua Bell, one of the instructors of the Music Camp and an internationally renowned violinist, as well as string musicians from the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, to showcase their achievements in the concert. Tickets are on sale through the Macau Ticketing Network from 10am on 7 August.


No campaign propaganda allowed after end of campaigning period

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election issued a reminder that the campaigning period for those seeking seats on the Chief Executive Election Committee will end at midnight on 9 August. That means no campaigning activities would be allowed from 10 August onward.

Total spending of visitors rose by 15.8% in the first half of 2024 from the same period in 2019


Macao Orchestra New Concert Season presents cross-disciplinary collaborations creating the infinity of music with world-class musicians

Co-organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Macao Orchestra Company, Limited, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, MGM, Sands China Ltd., SJM Resorts, S.A., and Wynn Resorts (Macau), S.A., with the support of BOC Macau, the Macao Orchestra 2024-25 Concert Season will be inaugurated on 31 August. Tickets will be on sale from 6 August through the Macau Ticketing Network.
