Industrial structure of the Macao SAR 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that Gross Value Added of all economic activities in the Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao SAR) expanded by 8.2% year-on-year in real terms to MOP384.54 billion in 2024 amid the further recovery of the local economy. Gross Value Added of the tertiary sector (i.e. service sector, such as wholesale & retail trade, restaurants & similar activities, financial activities and gaming) and the secondary sector (i.e. industrial production and construction) stood at MOP365.88 billion and MOP18.66 billion respectively.

External merchandise trade statistics for October 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total merchandise exports and imports amounted to MOP1.30 billion and MOP11.22 billion in October 2025, up by 7.9% and 0.7% year-on-year respectively. Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP9.92 billion.

Survey on manpower needs and wages for the third quarter of 2025
The Survey on Manpower Needs and Wages for the third quarter of 2025 covers the Manufacturing sector; the Electricity, Gas & Water Supply sector; Hotels; Restaurants; Child-care and Elderly Care services. However, the self-employed are excluded. Meanwhile, employees include resident and non-resident employees living in or outside the Macao Special Administrative Region.

Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for October 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average occupancy rate of guest rooms of hotel establishments stood at 89.3% in October 2025, an uplift of 0.9 percentage points year-on-year. Number of guests of hotel establishments increased by 3.0% year-on-year to 1,211,000. Number of inbound package tour visitors to the Macao Special Administrative Region totalled 158,000 in October, down by 20.6% year-on-year but up by 53.1% month-on-month.

Transport and communications statistics for October 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in the Macao Special Administrative Region totalled 253,757 as at end-October 2025, up by 0.7% year-on-year. In October, cross-border vehicular traffic (1,008,461 trips) and arriving and departing commercial flights at the Macau International Airport (4,939 trips) rose by 20.0% and 6.8% year-on-year respectively, whereas passenger ferry trips (6,722 trips) dropped by 2.0%. As at end-October, number of mobile phone subscribers (1,496,810) and internet subscribers (784,182) showed respective growth of 3.7% and 1.6% year-on-year.

Employment survey for August – October 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that both the general unemployment rate (1.7%) and the unemployment rate of local residents (2.3%) for August - October 2025 fell by 0.1 percentage point over the previous period (July - September).

Christmas Market to take place in Tap Seac Square from 16 December
To spice up the festive atmosphere of the Christmas festival, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will hold the Christmas Market in Tap Seac Square starting from16 December for 17 consecutive days. In addition to the 24 stalls selling Christmas gifts and festive food on-site, there will also be check-in spots, such as merry-go-round, inflatable slide and Christmas decorations as well as roving performances to celebrate the joyful Christmas festival with the public and the tourists during the winter.

Around 800 delegates awaited in Macao for the 50th Congress of APAVT next week to enhance relations and market expansion
The 50th National Congress of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) will be held in Macao 1 to 5 December, gathering around 800 delegates. Macao will take the opportunity to provide a firsthand update to the Portuguese travel trade about the new dynamic development of Macao as a world centre of tourism and leisure and showcase the city’s singular advantages as an international platform, helping to expand international visitor source markets.
