hush! Beach Concerts 2024 Open call for proposals for local bands, musicians and curators of art installations

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the “hush! Beach Concerts 2024” will be held from 9 to 10 November on Hac Sa Beach, presenting a multi-stage exhilarating music “marathon” and bringing exciting activities including creative gastronomy bazaars, experiences with musical instruments, art installations, children’s play area, and network connections. The event will also feature innovative land and water-based sports and outdoor recreational activities, creating a cross-disciplinary large-scale music festival. IC is now calling for the participation of local bands, musicians and curators of art installations. Interested parties are welcome to apply from 1 to 15 August. All are welcome to participate in the event to promote Macao’s pop music culture.


National Class One Conductor Zhang Lie serves as Music Director to start a new chapter for the Macao Chinese Orchestra

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, co-ordinated by the Macao Orchestra Company, Limited, and supported by the BOC Macau, the Macao Chinese Orchestra 2024-25 Concert Season will be inaugurated on 1 September. In the new Concert Season, the renowned National Class One Conductor Zhang Lie will serve as the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Macao Chinese Orchestra (OCHM), bringing music aficionados the fusion of Chinese and Western music and presenting high-quality concerts to showcase charm of ethnic music. Tickets will be on sale through the Macau Ticketing Network from 6 August.


Swearing-in of Deputy Director of Correctional Services Bureau Lei Iat Meng

The Correctional Services Bureau held the swearing-in ceremony for its Deputy Director on 1 August afternoon. With Director Cheng Fong Meng hosting the ceremony and administering the oath, Lei Iat Meng was sworn in as Deputy Director of the Correctional Services Bureau in the sight of members of the Bureau’s management.


MNN shops gradually opening, providing convenience for residents’ everyday needs

To meet the everyday needs of residents at Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) in Hengqin, the project features roughly 5,000 square metres of commercial space. Since the shop units have been open for rental application, a number of Macau enterprises have shown interest in expanding their businesses in MNN.



Wages of construction workers and prices of construction materials for the second quarter of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average daily wage of construction workers dropped by 1.2% quarter-on-quarter to MOP750 in the second quarter of 2024. The average daily wages of local workers and non-resident construction workers were MOP964 and MOP681 respectively, down by 0.5% and 0.4% quarter-on-quarter.

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and MGM join hands to organize the “Youth Hospitality Activities - Macao Tourism Courtesy Short Video Contest” (referred to as the “Contest”). Macao residents who are studying in school and aged between 15 and 35 are welcome to produce creative video entries for the Contest. Applications open on 1 August and close on 25 September 2024.


FSS Begins Accepting Fund Withdrawal Applications for Special Allocation from Budget Surplus 2024 for the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund

Starting today, the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) began accepting fund withdrawal applications for Special Allocation from Budget Surplus 2024 for the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund. Senior citizens registered for automatic withdrawal and meet the eligibility requirements for automatic payment need not go through any formalities. Other people eligible for fund withdrawal can apply through channels such as the "Macao One Account".


36th Macao International Music Festival offers a star-studded musical feast

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 36th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) will be held from 4 October to 4 November. Themed “And the Stars Shine”, this edition of the MIMF will feature 12 spectacular programmes and 16 outreach activities, gathering maestros and rising stars from the music scene to present a star-studded musical feast with timeless melodies.
