Lai Chi Vun Shipyards – Plots X11-X15 inaugurated creating a space for cultural and recreational activities dedicated to the theme of shipbuilding industry

In order to promote the revitalization of the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards and create a space for cultural and recreational activities dedicated to the theme of Macao's shipbuilding industry, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) has initiated a phased revitalization and restoration plan for the Shipyards since 2021. The opening ceremony of the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards – Plots X11-X15 was held on 24 June (Saturday) and was officiated by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Ao Ieong U; the Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Yin Rutao; the Chief of Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Ho Ioc San; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Leong Wai Man; the Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office of the Macao SAR Government, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes; the Representative of the Marine and Water Bureau, Sit Kai Sin; the Representative of the Cultural Heritage Committee, Wu Chou Kit; and was attended by the President of the Administrative Committee of the Cultural Development Fund, Cheong Kin Hong; the Advisors of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Lo Hou Chi and Wong Sai Peng; the Director of Galaxy Entertainment Group, Philip Cheng; the Executive Vice President of Public Relations of Corporate Office of Galaxy Entertainment Group, Buddy Lam; the Vice Presidents of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Cheong Lai San and Cheang Kai Meng; the Registrar of the Land Registry Office, Leong Mei Leng; members of the Cultural Development Consultative Committee, Chan Hou Seng, Xu Jie, Lok Hei and Choi Ian Sin; members of the Cultural Heritage Committee, Mok Chi Wai, Lam Iek Chit, Sio Chi Veng, Ieng Weng Fat, Maria José do Carmo de Freitas, Lok Nam Tak and Wong Un In; members of the Islands District Community Service Consultative Committee, Choi Seng Hon, Wong Leong Kuan, Ng Chi Lung, Lei Hoi Ha, Lio Kun Chi, Leong Chon Kit, Tan Hai Ching Kelvin, Lam Tsz Kwan and Vong Vai Tin; the Vice President of the Shipyard Workers Association of Macao, Lai Sio Meng; the President of the History and Culture Association of Port of Macau, Chan Yat Fung; the Director of the History and Culture Association of Port of Macau, Au Weng Hei; Veteran fisherman, Chan Kwong Yuk the President of the Fishermen’s Mutual Help Association of Macau, Xian Jinsong; and the Director of the Fishermen’s Mutual Help Association of Macau, Chan Meng Kam. The event was held in a lively atmosphere, featuring cultural performances and lion dance.




[“MICE+Industry” Cross-sectoral Integration] Macao and Hengqin Technology Enterprises Shine on the International Stage of CSITF

On the international platform for technology and trade development provided by the 9th China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair (CSITF), nine technology enterprises of Macao and Hengqin showed worldwide participants a variety of products and services related to technology and innovation, such as smart city application scenarios, updated e-business system of enterprises, chip design services and multi-sensor fusion machine products, for the purpose of facilitating the development of high-tech sector, which is among the four key industries, in line with the “1+4” appropriately diversified development strategy.



Consumer price index (CPI) for May 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for May 2023 (104.57) grew by 0.90% year-on-year. The increment was attributed to dearer charges for eating out, rising tuition fees and wages of domestic helpers, as well as increases in hotel room rates and clothing prices; yet, the rise was partially offset by lower rentals for dwellings and reduced airfares. Among the various sections of goods and services, price indices of Education and Recreation & Culture rose by 9.99% and 5.28% year-on-year respectively, whereas the indices of Transport and Housing & Fuels dropped by 3.36% and 1.88% respectively. The CPI-A (104.07) and CPI-B (105.24) saw respective growth of 0.66% and 1.22% year-on-year.


Police Circular: Beware of fraudulent SMS messages from courier services and telecommunications companies

Recently, members of the public have filed multiple reports with the Judiciary Police (PJ), claiming they have received fake SMS messages from courier services or telecommunications companies. Using excuses such as "delivery issues", "shipping costs", and "bonus points expiring", swindlers lure victims to click on links within SMS messages and input credit card details, thus stealing credit card information or money.


“Computer Security Basic Training Course (2023)” was successfully held

Organized by the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT), the “Computer Security Basic Training Course (2023)” was successfully held on 7th,14th and 21st of June (19h00-22h00) respectively at the Auditorium of Macao Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre, with an active participation of about 130candidates.


China Nanhai Jiujiang crowned champions in invitation races of 2023 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races

Organised by the Sports Bureau, SJM Resorts, S.A. and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, and co-organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, the final race day of the 2023 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races was held today (22 June) at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre. After several rounds of intense races, China Nanhai Jiujiang won both the Open Category and the Women’s Category of the Macao International Invitation Standard Dragon Boat Race (500m), while Kasetsart University of Thailand won the Macao University Student Invitation Standard Dragon Boat Race (500m). Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng enjoyed the races on-site and hosted the eye-dotting ceremony and award presentation ceremony, celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival with the public.
