The 3rd English Teacher Training Programme Jointly Organised by MPU and Shanghai Normal University Achieved Fruitful Learning Outcomes

To promote high-quality English teacher professional development and to strengthen exchanges and collaboration with mainland universities, the MPU-Bell Centre of English and Shanghai Normal University jointly organized the 3rd Summer English Training Programme for Teachers. This programme provided professional training to 26 English teachers from 17 universities in Shanghai. The programme covered the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in English teaching, contextualized teaching planning and field trips, and was highly popular.


UM holds UAUC joint meeting, Sam Hou Fai hopes UM will support Macao’s development as international hub for high-calibre talent

The University of Macau (UM) held the Joint Meeting of the University Assembly (UA) and University Council (UC) for the 2024/2025 academic year in the Ho Yin Conference Hall yesterday (4 August). Sam Hou Fai, chief executive of the Macao SAR, chancellor of UM and chair of UA, presided over the meeting. He said that higher education in Macao is experiencing an unprecedented period of development, and the SAR government will support the integrated development of education, technology, and talent in order to develop new quality productive forces for the city. He also expressed hope that UM will continue to promote talent attraction and development, foster the integration of industry and academia, and expand its international cooperation network, so as to support Macao’s development as an international hub for high-calibre talent.


MPU Collaborates with PKU and CUHK to Promote Cultural Industry Empowerment for Rural Revitalisation

To promote the innovative development of the rural characteristic cultural industries, and to empower rural revitalisation through cultural industries, the Ministry of Education held in Yaoli Village, Nanxun District, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, the 2025 “Hong Kong, Macao, and Mainland China School Exchange Programme - University Student Project” - “Yaoli Village International Art Symbiosis Project Rural Social Design Workshop.” Students from the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), Peking University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong participated in a ten-day workshop, applying creative management, art-driven empowerment, and lifestyle aesthetics to explore new models of rural development and collaborate on local revitalisation initiatives.

The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, said the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government would further review its undertaking regarding development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, including staffing allocation, Macao-Hengqin synergistic development and regulatory convergence.



POP MART MACAO CITYWALK attracts 343,000 persons in first two phases Participation count reaches 1.28 million in consumption lucky draw

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and POP MART jointly present the mega cultural tourism project – POP MART MACAO CITYWALK from 6 June to 21 September. Installations of the popular characters Baby Molly, CRYBABY, DIMOO and LABUBU are set up at Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro, Camões Square, St. Augustine’s Square and Vila da Taipa Historical Center Archway. Preliminary statistics indicate that the event attracted an accumulative flow of 343,000 persons approximately to the installations at the four community districts and the vicinity of POP STATION in the first two phases (6 June – 26 July). The participation count in the lucky draw reached 1.28 million. POP MART MACAO CITYWALK keeps drawing visitors and residents to the districts for photo moments and exploration, which injects an impetus to the tourism economy.


MPU Students Gain Fruitful Experience from the “Ten Thousand Talent Programme” of the Ministry of Education

To strengthen cooperation with mainland universities in talent cultivation, scientific research, and cultural exchange, while enhancing students’ comprehensive competitiveness, Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) has launched and participated in multiple exchange and learning programmes. Among these, the “Ten Thousand Talent Programme”, organised by the Ministry of Education, includes over 30 exchange projects. The Student Affairs Office of MPU actively organises student exchanges to mainland universities, inspiring intellectual growth through diverse learning journeys that deepen their understanding of the nation’s latest developments and yield fruitful outcomes.
