7th Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries showcases the beauty of Chinese and Lusophone arts through the encounter of diverse cultures

Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and supported by the Macao Government Tourism Office, the Municipal Affairs Bureau, TDM-Teledifusão de Macau, S.A., and Air Macau Company Limited, the 7th “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries” will be held from October to December 2025. The event is once again held in parallel with the “2025 GEG Lusofonia Festival” and features six core activities, including the “Spiritual Narrative – 2025 Annual Arts Exhibition between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries”, the “Chinese and Portuguese Picture Book Fair”, the “GEG Traditional Music and Dance Performance in the Community”, “The 7th China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival”, the “Sino-Lusophone Concert”, and the “Chinese and Portuguese Tasting Workshop”. Over 780 artists and performers from home and abroad will present over 80 outstanding programmes, creating a cross-disciplinary cultural feast at historic world heritage sites, community spaces and modern theatres.


Lotus Cycle Track to be reopened on National Day after optimisation, offering extended route and convenient bicycle rental and return

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has completed the optimisation and transformation of Lotus Cycle Track. The route has been extended and the ancillary facilities and services offered have become more convenient and improved. The cycle track will be reopened on 1 October (National Day), providing a more comfortable bicycle riding space and convenient bicycle rental service to the public.

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will stage mega tourism promotional events in Indonesia and Malaysia between 9 and 12 October, vigorously expanding the international visitor markets in Southeast Asia. The promotional event in Malaysia will feature spaces in special design that brings to life Macao’s vitality and kaleidoscope of “tourism +” while special tourism packages and air tickets will be on sale on site, to ignite Malaysians’ intent to visit Macao in pursuit of the Southeast Asian market.

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will roll out large-scale tourism promotional events in Indonesia and Malaysia between 9 and 12 October, vigorously tapping into the potential of Southeast Asia as an international market. During the promotional event in Indonesia, MAK MAK will partner with the local trendy webcomic Tahilalats in branding Macao. To spotlight the event in advance, both IPs will grace the Car Free Day for a fun encounter with residents in Jakarta for two consecutive weekends.


Transport and communications statistics for August 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in the Macao Special Administrative Region totalled 253,331 as at end-August 2025, up by 0.8% year-on-year. In August, cross-border vehicular traffic (983,563 trips) and passenger ferry trips (6,857 trips) rose by 23.3% and 1.5% year-on-year respectively, whereas arriving and departing commercial flights at the Macau International Airport (4,934 trips) dropped by 5.4%. As at end-August, number of mobile phone subscribers (1,499,914) and internet subscribers (781,346) showed respective growth of 4.4% and 1.7% year-on-year.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for August 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average occupancy rate of guest rooms of hotel establishments stood at 92.9% in August 2025, an uplift of 1.5 percentage points year-on-year. Number of guests of hotel establishments increased by 3.0% year-on-year to 1,303,000. Meanwhile, number of inbound package tour visitors to the Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao SAR) decreased by 18.8% year-on-year to 162,000 in August but rose by 7.4% month-on-month.



New service launched on “Macao One Account” for non-resident workers to apply for Certificate of Criminal Record (Non-first-time applications)

To continuously improve public services and respond to citizens' demand for online application services, starting from 30 September 2025, the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) introduced a new service that allows non-resident workers to apply for the Certificate of Criminal Record through the "Macao One Account." This new service facilitates the application process by enabling non-resident workers to go through the formalities online, reducing the need to visit service counters in person and furthering the goal of streamlining administration formalities for the convenience of the public.
