Delegations from leading mainland universities visit UM to explore new cooperation opportunities

Delegations from a number of leading universities in mainland China visited the University of Macau (UM), including UM’s strategic partners such as Peking University and Tsinghua University, as well as partner institutions from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance, the Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance, and the Shandong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Innovation. UM representatives had in-depth discussions with each delegation to explore new opportunities for future development and deepen cooperation with the mainland universities.


Citywide cleanup campaign to be launched next month for government and community to build a beautiful and clean city together

In order to improve urban appearance and cleanliness and draw the public’s attention to environmental hygiene of the community, the “urban appearance and cleanliness working team” composed of representatives from multiple government departments will jointly organise a citywide cleanup campaign from April to May this year, arranging for different sectors to jointly promote and implement a series of anti-rodent and mosquito control measures, strengthen inspections of construction sites, food establishments and food processing plants, carry out targeted publicity among the “three no’s” buildings, so as to jointly maintain the cleanliness of the community environment. During the period, consulting street kiosks and roving exhibitions will also be set up to give environmental hygiene education in the community. It is hoped that various sectors will make joint efforts to create a cleaner city and a more livable living environment.


The MGTO is monitoring the situation regarding the earthquake that occurred in Myanmar

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is closely monitoring the situation regarding the earthquake that occurred in Myanmar. So far, the MGTO has not received any requests for information or assistance.


Employment survey for December 2024 – February 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that both the general unemployment rate (1.8%) and the unemployment rate of local residents (2.3%) for December 2024 - February 2025 increased by 0.2 percentage points from the previous period (November 2024 - January 2025), as a relatively large number of people looked for jobs after the holidays. Meanwhile, the general underemployment rate dropped further by 0.2 percentage points to 1.1%.



Reorganisation of eight leisure areas in T'oi Sán and Ilha Verde to facilitate complementarity of community demand and function

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) continuously optimises the leisure facilities in various districts. In view of the actual conditions of T'oi Sán and Ilha Verde district, the eight existing leisure areas inside the district will be reorganised in phases after integrative analysis of the demographic structure in the district. On the principle of optimisation and integration, the space will be reorganised and divided into functional zones appropriately. Diverse play equipment and fitness enhancement equipment will be added to create leisure areas with novel themes and various characteristics, so as to satisfy the needs of the residents in the different age groups in the district. Meanwhile, shading and barrier-free facilities will be provided to enhance safety and comfort. The quality of the greening work will also be improved for the provision of a comfortable and pleasant leisure space for the public.
