Macao’s overall public security situation remains stable
The Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak, stated that Macao’s overall public security situation is stable and remains so. Incidence of violent crime in the city continues generally to be low, and crime prevention and control strategies are in place.

[Integrating Into Overall National Development] IPIM Organised 21 Macao Enterprises and Commerce Associations to Sichuan to Facilitate Economic Co-operation
The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (“IPIM”) of the Macao Special Administrative Region organised a delegation of representatives from 21 Macao enterprises and commerce associations to attend the “Mutually Beneficial Co-operation and Business Matching Conference Between Hong Kong and Macao and Regions in Western China” in Guang’an City, Sichuan Province from 26 to 29 November. Guided by the Department of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce, and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, the event aims to facilitate Macao enterprises in deeply integrating into the overall national development, enhancing collaboration between Hong Kong and Macao enterprises and enterprises in western China, and providing opportunities for them to explore the extensive market potential in western China.

The University of Macau (UM) and Dr. Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation (SHMDF) jointly held the 2024 Distinguished Scholars Forum as part of the ‘Set Sail for New Horizons, Create the Future’ Grant. Held in a hybrid format, the forum brought together renowned experts and scholars to share their latest research findings in health sciences and big data applications in healthcare.

The ‘Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region - 2024 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon’, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), and the General Association of Athletics of Macau (AGAM), is set to take place on 1 December (Sunday). The Organizing Committee held a pre-race press conference today (29 November) to introduce the race details and arrange for a number of invited long-distance runners to meet the media.

[Seeking Business Opportunities in Shenzhen] IPIM and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province Organises over 30 Macao Entrepreneurs to Have Business Visit, Exchange and Exploration of New Opportunities in Shenzhen
The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province jointly held the “Macao Entrepreneur Delegation for Business Exchange in Guangdong (Shenzhen)” on 28 November, and organised a delegation of over 30 representatives from commerce associations and enterprises from MICE, trade, manufacturing, catering, retail, logistics, cultural and creative industries to conduct business visit and exchange in Shenzhen. According to some of the Macao enterprises which join IPIM’s exchange delegation for the first time, this trip gives them opportunities to expand business and market, as the filed inspection deepened their understanding of Shenzhen’s development, and the direct exchange build up their contacts with local enterprises and lay a foundation for further co-operation.

Cultural Affairs Bureau organises the concert “Jazz Up for Christmas at Dom Pedro V Theatre” featuring impressive performances led by Portuguese jazz maestro Zé Eduardo
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the concert “Jazz Up for Christmas at Dom Pedro V Theatre” will be staged in the evening from 21, 22, 24 and 25 December, where Portuguese jazz maestro Zé Eduardo and the Jazz Mission Big Band were invited to perform. Combining jazz, gastronomy and Portuguese culture, the event invites residents and tourists to celebrate Christmas at the theatre and experience the cultural, artistic, and festive vibes. Tickets will be on sale from this Sunday (1 December) and the public are advised to purchase tickets as soon as possible.

Coordinated Portfolio Investment Survey – 30 June 2024
According to the statistics released today (29 November) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, on 30 June 2024, investment of Macao residents (including individuals, the government and other legal entities but excluding Macao’s foreign exchange reserves) in securities issued by unrelated non-residents reached MOP1,223.3 billion at current market value, representing an increase of 10.7% from end-2023 or 14.1% year-on-year. Among the various instruments of portfolio investment, equity securities (including mutual funds and investment trust units), long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities were valued at MOP372.1 billion, MOP722.1 billion and MOP129.1 billion respectively. As compared with end-2023, the market values of equity securities, long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities rose by 11.0%, 4.1% and 71.1% respectively.

Consumer price index (CPI) for October 2024
Starting October 2024, the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) releases the new CPI series rebased to the period of July 2023 to June 2024. The Composite CPI for October 2024 rose by 0.33% year-on-year but decreased by 0.1% month-on-month. For the 12 months ended October this year, the average Composite CPI grew by 0.91% from the previous period (November 2022 - October 2023).

Nostalgia of Macao — “Shipbuilding in Olden Days” Exhibition of Shipbuilding Industry to open next Friday
Jointly organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and the Shipyard Workers Association of Macao, the Nostalgia of Macao — “Shipbuilding in Olden Days” Exhibition of Shipbuilding Industry will be launched on 6 December at IAM Gallery. The exhibition showcases the development of the local shipbuilding industry that was once an important underpinning of Macao’s economy through photos, text, physical objects, multimedia, etc., making it a rare dedicated exhibition about the shipbuilding industry of the city.

IAM to hold a themed flower show to celebrate Macao’s return and add floral arrangements in various districts
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will hold a themed flower show in Avenida da Praia, Taipa, from 14 December 2024 to 5 January 2025, with festive flower beds placed across Macao for members of the public to enjoy and experience the festive atmosphere.
