Restoration works for the bronze statues of the Ruins of St. Paul’s to be performed since 2 January The VR exhibition is temporarily closed for inspection and maintenance works
As essential maintenance for the Ruins of St. Paul’s, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) has been conducting restoration and maintenance works for the seven statues on the façade of this monument in phases since 2025. The restoration work for three of the bronze statues has been completed this year. The phase 2 project is scheduled from 2 January to 9 February, 2026, which includes repair and maintenance works for the two bronze statues on the left side of the second tier and the Jesus statue on the fourth tier. Meanwhile, scaffolding will be installed on the front façade of the monument. For public safety and implementation of the works, the archaeological site behind the Ruins of St. Paul’s (including “Visiting the Ruins of St. Paul’s in Space and Time – Exhibition of Virtual Reality at the Ruins of St. Paul’s” and the Museum of Sacred Art and Crypt) will be temporarily closed to the public at certain time slots (please refer to the table below). During the project period, barricades will be temporarily installed at the forecourt of the Ruins of St. Paul’s to separate the project area from the public. Transport and communications statistics for November 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in the Macao Special Administrative Region totalled 254,055 as at end-November 2025, up by 0.5% year-on-year. In November, cross-border vehicular traffic (958,605 trips) and arriving and departing commercial flights at the Macau International Airport (4,645 trips) rose by 15.1% and 0.7% year-on-year respectively, whereas passenger ferry trips (6,284 trips) dropped by 1.5%. As at end-November, number of mobile phone subscribers (1,494,421) and internet subscribers (785,108) showed respective growth of 3.4% and 1.5% year-on-year.

External merchandise trade statistics for November 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total merchandise exports increased by 0.9% year-on-year to MOP1.14 billion in November 2025, while total merchandise imports dropped by 2.0% to MOP11.20 billion. Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP10.06 billion.

Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for November 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average occupancy rate of guest rooms of hotel establishments stood at 90.2% in November 2025, an uplift of 0.7 percentage points year-on-year. Number of guests of hotel establishments increased by 1.9% year-on-year to 1,193,000. Number of inbound package tour visitors to the Macao Special Administrative Region totalled 191,000 in November, down by 12.5% year-on-year but up by 29.1% month-on-month.

The facility enquiry function of the “Municipal facilities EasyGo” of the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will be integrated to the designated webpage of “Nearby Facilities” on the IAM website from 1 January 2026. To optimise the function of enquiring about facilities, users can directly scan the QR code of the webpage to enquire about the information about various municipal facilities on the website.

The 41st issue ofBooks and the City, published by the Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), is now available to the public. Themed “Art Heals Life”, this issue focuses on topics such as art therapy, spiritual healing and positive energy. UM student wins championship at Basic Law promotional short film competition
Ng Ka Ngai, a student in the Department of Communication in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Macau (UM), won the championship at the 2025 Basic Law Promotional Short Film Competition. His winning film, Rooted in One Country, Flourishing under Two Systems, highlights the core principles of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China, the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and the National Security Law. It showcases the steady development and vitality of Macao under the ‘one country, two systems’ policy.

7th “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries” successfully concluded showcasing the diverse charm of the integration of the East and Western cultures in Macao
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 7th “Encounter in Macao - Arts and Cultural Festival between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries” was successfully concluded. In order to allow residents and tourists to feel the cultural vibe of the Lusophone countries and regions and to engage in their profound cultural diversity, this year’s Festival was held in parallel with the “GEG Lusofonia Festival”, featuring over 80 sessions of programmes and outreach activities in seven series from October to December, counting with the participation of over 780 artists and performers from home and abroad. The Festival leverages Macao’s historical and cultural spaces and community venues, showcasing the vibrant tapestry of different regional cultures in world heritage buildings, community public areas, and professional theatres, thereby revealing the splendour of cultural integration between different regions and attracting over 61,000 participants until today.
