Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – December 2022
The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP208.6 billion (USD25.97 billion) at the end of December 2022. The reserves increased by 0.7% from the revised value of MOP207.1 billion (USD25.74 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-December 2022 represented 10 times the currency in circulation or 85.0% of pataca M2 at end-November 2022.

40th Macao Young Musicians Competition successfully held
The “40th Macao Young Musicians Competition”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was successfully concluded. The awards ceremony was held on 13 January at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building, in which the Special Prizes were presented to the winners. This edition’s “Cultural Affairs Bureau Prize” was awarded to Ieong Hou. The Acting Vice-President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Cheang Kai Meng, presented the awards.

Targeting Hong Kong Market – MGTO invites Hong Kong tourism industry leaders to Macao for familiarization visit to tap into Hong Kong as a visitor source market
Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has invited about 40 Hong Kong tourism industry leaders to Macao today (15 January) for a two-day familiarization trip. They set off for a first-hand experience of the “tourism +” elements, including tourist attractions at Macao’s World Heritage Site and tourism facilities of various mega integrated resorts. The delegation will also participate in a travel trade networking seminar with their counterparts in Macao for an update on Macao’s latest tourism situation.
