Local View Power 2023: Call for Proposals

In order to promote the development of cinematography and encourage Macao independent filmmakers to create more local films, the call for proposals for the programme “Local View Power”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) is open from today to 8 March. Those who are interested in film production are welcome to participate.


Cultural Affairs Bureau extends “Visiting the Ruins of St. Paul’s in Space and Time” – Exhibition of Virtual Reality at the Ruins of St. Paul’s and offers additional sessions

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the “Visiting the Ruins of St. Paul’s in Space and Time” – Exhibition of Virtual Reality at the Ruins of St. Paul’s has received an overwhelming response since its launch. In appreciation of the public’s support, the organiser will extend the first phase of the exhibition and offers additional sessions, allowing more members of the public to experience the magnificent historical features of the Former Mater Dei Church. The exhibition will be extended to 28 February, and the exploration will be adjusted to three sessions per hour from 16 January. Each session will open to 10 participants.

Since the new border measure has lifted the requirement for the COVID nucleic acid test from 8 January onwards, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has been dedicating all-rounded efforts to brand the destination with a range of special travel offers and gearing up for different mega events to welcome visitors for Chinese New Year. Visitor arrivals have been steadily increasing in recent days, to reach 40,000 this Thursday (12 January), the first single-day record that has exceeded 40,000 this year. The visitor figures are expected to keep rising with the advent of Chinese New Year festivities.


Tourist price index (TPI) for the 4th quarter of 2022

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Tourist Price Index (TPI) for the fourth quarter of 2022 went up by 0.17% year-on-year to 119.27, on account of dearer prices of local food products; yet, the increase was partially offset by lower hotel room rates. Among the various sections of goods and services, price indices of Entertainment & Cultural Activities, Food, Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco and Medicine & Personal Goods grew by 23.13%, 9.52% and 5.24% year-on-year respectively, while the index of Accommodation dropped by 19.50%.


CE presents awards to honour outstanding individuals and entities

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, today presented awards to a total of 26 recipients, either individuals or organisations, in recognition of respectively either personal achievement, contribution to the community, or distinguished service to the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR).


CE: National test-free travel to Macao to support local economic recovery

Travellers from all parts of the country – including the mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan region – inbound to Macao are no longer required to present any nucleic acid test certificate to enter the city. The relaxation of epidemic-control travel measures was expected to boost the number of visitors to Macao, which in turn could help spur local economic recovery, stated the Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng.




IPIM Joins Hands with Macao MICE Sector to Implement a Series of Industry’s Development within 2023

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) had a work meeting yesterday (10 January) with five associations of the local MICE sector, integrating the sector’s resources to jointly map out a plan for the industry’s development in 2023, with focuses on accelerated recovery of the MICE sector and synergy with the peripheral industries.
