Tourist price index (TPI) for the 4th quarter of 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Tourist Price Index (TPI) for the fourth quarter of 2022 went up by 0.17% year-on-year to 119.27, on account of dearer prices of local food products; yet, the increase was partially offset by lower hotel room rates. Among the various sections of goods and services, price indices of Entertainment & Cultural Activities, Food, Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco and Medicine & Personal Goods grew by 23.13%, 9.52% and 5.24% year-on-year respectively, while the index of Accommodation dropped by 19.50%.

CE: National test-free travel to Macao to support local economic recovery
Travellers from all parts of the country – including the mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan region – inbound to Macao are no longer required to present any nucleic acid test certificate to enter the city. The relaxation of epidemic-control travel measures was expected to boost the number of visitors to Macao, which in turn could help spur local economic recovery, stated the Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng.

Airlines gradually resume more passenger flights and frequencies
Seeing that the transitional period for the anti-epidemic period has ended, the Macao aviation industry is making best endeavours to resume their operations in Macao. The Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) is also taking a proactive manner to help the industry to recover and meet the air transport demand for Chinese New Year. The Authority has approved the applications for flight resumption and increase of frequencies made by Air Macau, the mainland Chinese and foreign operators.

Applications now open for Bank of China Trophy One Million Dollar Macao Regional Entrepreneurship Competition
The 2023 Bank of China Trophy One Million Dollar Macao Regional Entrepreneurship Competition, hosted by the University of Macau (UM), is now open for applications. All students currently studying at tertiary institutions in Macao and Macao residents studying at higher education institutions outside Macao are eligible to apply. The cash prize for the Macao regional competition is more than MOP 110,000. The top three winners of the regional competition will advance to the final for a chance to win RMB 1 million and obtain further funding.
