UTM elevates Macao’s global standing as an academic research hub and MICE destination, by co-hosting APTA 2024 Conference

The annual conference of the Asia Pacific Tourism Association (APTA) is one of the leading and largest industry-expert events in the region concerning international tourism. This year’s edition takes place in Macao and is co-hosted by the Macao University of Tourism (UTM), from 3 to 5 July, at the Galaxy International Convention Center with the integrated resort operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) as the principal sponsor of the event.


1st Macao International Children’s Arts Festival welcomes the summer with several intriguing activities

Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), and co-organised and supported by various entities, the 1st Macao International Children’s Arts Festival will be held from July to August, during which adults and children are invited to embrace arts through a series of intriguing activities.


IAM continues to hold multiple animal protection activities in July to promote animal adoption and owners’ responsibilities

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and animal protection groups will continue to organise the “Talk on Health and Veterinary Care of Pomeranian” and “Sharing Talk on Adoption of Dogs and Cats” in July. In addition, the “Pet Preparatory Class – Pet Information Station” will tour different communities to promote the concepts of animal epidemic prevention and protection, adoption and being a responsible owner. Members of the public are welcome to participate in the activities.


Monetary and financial statistics – May 2024

According to statistics released today (3 July) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply continued to grow in May. Meanwhile, both resident deposits and loans increased from a month earlier.


ISF World School Basketball Championship 2024 Closes

The World School Basketball Championship 2024, organised by the International School Sport Federation (ISF) and hosted by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), was held from 24 June to 2 July in Macao. 37 teams from 20 countries and regions gathered in Macao to compete for the championship. A total of 117 matches had completed successfully.






【Expand international markets】Korean Air launches direct flights from Seoul Korean media delegation pays familiarization visit to Macao by inaugural flight

Korean Air launches a new air route between Macao and Seoul, Korea. The inaugural flight departed from Seoul and reached Macao last midnight (1 July). In tandem with the new air link, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) partners with Korean Air to present special offers on air tickets and unfold a diverse promotional campaign that includes arrangements for Korean media delegations to visit Macao, with the aim to attract Korean visitors, diversify visitor markets and enhance Macao’s status as a world centre of tourism and leisure.
