CE congratulates Macao sports delegation for city’s best-ever achievement in National Games

The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, today commended the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) sports delegation that participated in the 15th National Games of the People’s Republic of China, for its outstanding performances across multiple events, and for achieving the best-ever results in the history of Macao’s participation in a National Games.

The closing ceremony of the 15th National Games of the People’s Republic of China was held today in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. The Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Mr Wang Huning, officially declared the conclusion of the Games.



UM honorary doctor Thomas J. Sargent to give talk on redistribution and insurance in US household data

The University of Macau (UM) will hold a UM Doctor honoris causa Lecture on 28 November (Friday). Thomas J. Sargent, recipient of the Doctor of Business Administration honoris causa from UM and the 2011 Nobel laureate in Economic Sciences, will deliver a talk titled ‘Quantifying Redistribution and Insurance in U.S. Household Data’. All are welcome to attend.



Private sector construction and real estate transactions for the third quarter of 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 1,411 building units and parking spaces were purchased and sold in the third quarter of 2025 as per Stamp Duty record, and the total value of transactions was MOP6.26 billion. The overall average price per square metre of usable area of residential units was MOP74,190.


Consumer price index (CPI) for October 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for October 2025 rose by 0.60% year-on-year and 0.03% month-on-month. For the 12 months ended October this year, the average Composite CPI grew by 0.26% from the previous period (November 2023 – October 2024).


Cultural industries statistics 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total Service Receipts of the cultural industries (comprising four domains, namely "Digital media", "Creative design", "Cultural exhibitions & performances" and "Art collection") grew by 12.7% year-on-year to MOP 9.73 billion in 2024, on account of the SAR Government's continuous effort to promote the development of cultural industries, coupled with the further recovery of the local economy. Besides, Gross Value Added that reflects the industries' contribution to the economy went up by 4.7% to MOP 3.01 billion.


Visitor arrivals for October 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 3,472,477 visitor arrivals were recorded in October 2025, up by 10.8% year-on-year. Same-day visitors (2,103,520) and overnight visitors (1,368,957) rose by 17.6% and 1.7% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors held steady year-on-year at 1.1 days, with that of overnight visitors rising by 0.1 day to 2.4 days.


Exchange Seminar Held in Macao by Guangdong Social Insurance Fund Administration, Macao Social Security Fund, and Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority

On 14 November, the Guangdong Social Insurance Fund Administration, the Social Security Fund of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR), and the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) convened an exchange seminar at the Pousada de Mong-Há Conference Room of the Macao University of Tourism. The seminar served as a platform for in-depth dialogue on social security and provident fund systems and provided an opportunity to explore ways to strengthen future collaboration.
