Christmas Market to be held in Tap Seac Square from 16 December

To spice up the festive atmosphere, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will hold the “Christmas Market 2024” in Tap Seac Square from 16 December for 17 consecutive days. In addition to the special booths selling Christmas gifts and food, popular facilities like Christmas manger, merry-go-round, little Christmas train and inflatable slide will also be available for the Macao public and tourists to spend the joyful Christmas and New Year festivals together.


UTM Signed MoU with HEI in France and Visited Swiss Partners

A delegation from Macao University of Tourism (UTM), led by Dr. Fanny Vong, Rector of UTM, with Dr. Connie Loi, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Clara Lei, Dean of Faculty of Innovative Hospitality Management, visited France and Switzerland to strengthen collaboration with international higher education institutions at the end of November 2024.


Employment survey for August – October 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that both the general unemployment rate (1.7%) and the unemployment rate of local residents (2.3%) for August - October 2024 remained unchanged from the previous period (July - September). Meanwhile, the underemployment rate rose slightly by 0.1 percentage point to 1.2%.


CE meets Angola's Secretary of State for Higher Education to bolster education cooperation

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, today met with the Secretary of State for Higher Education of the Republic of Angola, Mr Eugénio Adolfo Alves da Silva. The officials exchanged views on the continuous promotion of higher education cooperation between Macao and Angola.


“Palace of Double Brilliance: Special Exhibition from the Palace Museum” inaugurated Art collection presents Emperor Qianlong’s wisdom of governance and cultural excellence

The “Palace of Double Brilliance: Special Exhibition from the Palace Museum”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Palace Museum, implemented by the Macao Museum of Art, and supported by the Macao Foundation, Macao Government Tourism Office and Macao Daily News, was inaugurated on 28 November at the Macao Museum of Art. The opening ceremony was held in a lively atmosphere and was officiated by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Ao Ieong U; the Director of the Palace Museum, Wang Xudong; the Chief of Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ho Ioc San; the Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Wan Sucheng; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leong Wai Man; the Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes; the Acting President of the Administrative Committee of the Macao Foundation, Zhong Yi Seabra de Mascarenhas; the Director of Macao Daily News, Lok Po; and the Member of the Cultural Development Consultative Committee, Ieng Weng Fat; and was attended by the Adviser of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Lo Hou Chi; the Acting Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Choi Kin Long; and the members of the Cultural Development Consultative Committee and of the Cultural Heritage Committee.


Inauguration of the Centre of Preservation and Transmission for Cultural Heritage of the Palace Museum in Macao, strengthening the preservation of cultural heritage with technology and contributing to the development of Macao as “One Base”

In order to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR, as well as to strengthen the preservation, restoration, education and promotion of cultural heritage in Macao and contribute to the establishment of Macao as “a base for exchange and cooperation with Chinese culture as the mainstream and the coexistence of different cultures”, the Centre of Preservation and Transmission for Cultural Heritage of the Palace Museum in Macao, jointly established by the Macao SAR Government and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, was inaugurated today (28 November), with a plaque unveiling ceremony jointly hosted by the Chief Executive of the Macao SAR Government, Ho Iat Seng, and the Director of the Palace Museum, Wang Xudong. The ceremony was also attended by the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Zheng Xinchong; the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR, Liu Xianfa; the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Ao Ieong U; and the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Leong Wai Man.
